Meet Scott Fischer

Experienced, ethical, and committed to helping your dog become your best friend for life.

I’m Scott Fischer, owner of The Trained Canine. Since 2002, I’ve been helping dog owners build better communication, better behavior, and a more enjoyable everyday life with their dogs. My approach is practical, humane, and focused on creating lasting results for both dogs and their families.

About Scott

As a Certified Mentor Trainer for Animal Behavior College, I provide hands-on instruction and supervision to students and aspiring trainers. I am also a proud member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, following high ethical standards in both the way I work with dogs and the way I serve my clients.

Through continued education, workshops, and seminars, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some of the most respected trainers and behaviorists in the field. Those experiences have helped shape the positive, respectful, and effective approach I use today.

Professional Background

My love for dogs started early. At 19, I apprenticed with a local kennel owner and trainer, gaining valuable hands-on experience that would later become the foundation for my work.

Life eventually led me into the business world, where I became Vice-President of KingAlarm Distributors. During my time there, the company grew from a small two-store outlet into the nation’s largest independently owned security distributor, with locations in 8 states. When KingAlarm was acquired in 1999, I was finally able to return to my true passion and begin working professionally with dogs full-time.

Continuing Education

I’m fortunate to live close to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey, where I’ve attended workshops and seminars led by respected trainers and behaviorists. Some of the people who have influenced my work include Jean Donaldson, Temple Grandin, Dr. Karen Overall, and Dr. Ian Dunbar.

Their insight has helped shape the training philosophy behind The Trained Canine: practical guidance, humane methods, and a strong respect for the relationship between dogs and their owners.
